Sharjah Road Accident: Pakistani National Awarded 11 Lakh Rupees Compensation

SHARJAH: A Sharjah court has ordered a compensation of 15,000 Dirhams (approximately 11 Lakh Pakistani Rupees) for a Pakistani national, Muhammad Ahmed Mujahid Javed, who was injured in a road accident. The legal victory was secured through the intervention of Salam Pappinissery, CEO of YAB Legal Services.
The accident occurred on August 20, 2024, near the 'Day to Day' store in the Abu Shagara area of Sharjah. The incident took place when an Indian national, driving a car, entered the main road without ensuring it was safe to do so. The car collided with Ahmed's motorcycle, causing significant damage to the bike and leaving Ahmed with serious hand injuries. He was immediately rushed to Kuwait Hospital for treatment.
The Sharjah Criminal Court initially found the car driver guilty of negligence and imposed a fine of 1,000 Dirhams. Seeking fair compensation for the injuries sustained, Ahmed’s family approached Salam Pappinissery. YAB Legal Services subsequently filed a civil claim with the Insurance Dispute Resolution Committee, submitting comprehensive medical reports and the criminal judgment as evidence.
After a thorough review of the arguments and evidence, the Insurance Dispute Resolution Committee ordered the insurance company of the at-fault driver to pay 15,000 Dirhams as primary compensation, along with an additional 4,100 Dirhams to cover medical expenses. Furthermore, the court mandated a 5% interest charge on the total amount, effective from the date of the verdict until the final settlement is fully paid. Although the insurance company’s legal team filed an appeal seeking to reduce the award, the appellate court dismissed their plea and upheld the original judgment, citing the robust rebuttal memorandum submitted by YAB Legal Services.
