Sri Lankan Man Awarded AED 40,000 Compensation After Dubai Accident, With Legal Support from Yab Legal Services CEO Salam Pappinissery

Dubai: A Sri Lankan national, Mohammed Inshad, who sustained injuries after his car collided with an electricity pole in Dubai, has been awarded 3.25 million Sri Lankan Rupees (40,000 AED) in compensation. This was made possible through the intervention of Salam Pappinissery, the CEO of Yab Legal Services. The court issued the verdict on July 18, 2023. The incident occurred when Inshad's vehicle crashed into an electricity pole near Damac Celestia in the Jebel Ali police station jurisdiction of Dubai. The accident resulted in front-end damage to his car and injuries to Inshad, leading to his immediate hospitalization. Following an investigation, the police attributed the accident to excessive speed and negligence. A criminal case was registered against Inshad, and he was subsequently fined 1,000 AED by the court. Initially, many believed that Inshad would not be eligible for any compensation due to his perceived fault in the accident. However, he then approached Salam Pappinissery, CEO of Yab Legal Services, who agreed to take on his case. Under Pappinissery's guidance, a team of advocates initiated the necessary legal proceedings to claim compensation. Inshad suffered injuries to his right elbow and humerus. The legal team filed a case with the Insurance Authority, naming the insurance company of the vehicle involved in the accident as the opposing party. They submitted crucial documents, including medical certificates detailing the extent of Inshad's injuries and a comprehensive memorandum. Despite the insurance company's argument that Inshad was not entitled to compensation due to his fault, the court ruled in his favor. This decision was based on the strong counter-arguments presented in the memorandum submitted by Yab Legal Services. Ultimately, the court ordered the insurance company to pay Mohammed Inshad 40,000 AED (3.25 million Sri Lankan Rupees) as compensation for his injuries and losses.
