The accident occurred on August 30, 2021, when a pickup truck carrying Firoz and Sivadasan, both natives of Kozhikode, hit the back of a truck that was moving on Shuhada Street in Ras Al Khaimah. Rescue operations from inside the pickup truck, which was completely destroyed in the accident, were difficult and both died on the spot. The police registered a case against the driver of the pickup truck after finding that the cause of the accident was failure to maintain proper distance, but the court decided to stay the case as the accused had died in accordance with Article 20 of the Criminal Procedure Code.

The family, which was devastated on all levels by Sivadasan's death, approached many people for compensation. However, they were sent back saying that it was difficult to get compensation since the fault was on their side and there was no criminal court verdict in the case. Finally, they approached Salam Pappinissery, CEO of Yab Legal Services in the UAE, and informed him of their difficulties. He took up their problem and filed a complaint in the court with the insurance company as a party, demanding compensation and damages. However, the insurance company filed a counter-argument in the court, stating that the entire amount demanded could not be paid and that the compensation also included the damages. After examining all the documents submitted, the court accepted the arguments of Sivadasan's lawyer and ordered the family to pay 2 lakh dirhams as compensation and 6 lakh dirhams as damages.
