On January 11, 2022, the vehicle carrying Indian nationals Attarjit Singh and another person, who were coming from Abu Dhabi to Al Ain, collided with the vehicle in front on the truck road in Saih Lahma when it was overtaking. The vehicle skidded off the road due to the impact of the lightning and caught fire, causing serious injuries to Attarjit and he was immediately taken to the hospital for treatment. The police found the driver of the vehicle Attarjit was travelling in to be negligent and referred the case to the traffic court. The court found the driver guilty of causing bodily harm and property damage by driving without following traffic rules and sentenced him to a fine of four thousand dirhams.

Attarjit Singh, who was undergoing treatment in the hospital after sustaining a fractured left rib, had faced numerous financial and moral losses due to the accident, and approached Yab Legal Services CEO Salam Pappinissery to seek compensation. After examining Atharjit's accident report and insurance coverage, he filed a petition in the insurance court against the company that insured the vehicle that caused the accident and sought compensation. However, the opposing parties opposed the petition and argued that the complainant was not covered by insurance. However, Atharjit's lawyer submitted evidence to this effect and argued that his client was entitled to insurance since the accident occurred while traveling on business. The court, which considered the petition, accepted Atharjit's lawyer's argument and ordered the insurance company to pay 250,000 dirhams in compensation. However, the opposing party also argued that the amount awarded was too high. Attarjit's lawyer had also approached the civil court, saying that the amount awarded was insufficient due to the permanent disabilities suffered by the party and the many problems it would cause in the future. The court, after considering the petition, increased the insurance amount to 3.5 lakh dirhams (i.e. 79 lakh Indian rupees).
