On April 10, 2020, the car driven by Egyptian national Adnan hit a sand dune in Sharjah Al Dhaid. Adnan was seriously injured and the vehicle was destroyed in the impact. The police, who arrived at the scene and conducted an investigation, found that the driver's negligence while driving the vehicle was the cause of the accident and referred the case to the court. The court found Adnan guilty and fined him 1,000 dirhams and released him.

Adnan, who was then undergoing treatment for injuries to his skull and jaw, approached Salam Pappinissery, CEO of Yab Legal Services in the UAE, to seek compensation for the accident he had suffered. He immediately filed a petition with the insurance court, which included Adnan's medical reports and other documents. The court, which considered the petition, awarded Adnan two hundred thousand dirhams in compensation. However, the insurance company approached the civil and appeal courts, saying that Adnan's injuries were not serious and that the amount awarded was higher. Adnan's lawyer, however, submitted a report of the cerebral hemorrhage he had suffered and convinced the court that he was continuing his treatment. The court then examined the documents and accepted Adnan's lawyer's argument and rejected the petitions filed by the insurance company.
