Abu Dhabi: Muhammad Sharif Abdul Jaffar, a native of Uttar Pradesh, India, who sustained serious injuries in a road accident in Al Wathba, Abu Dhabi, on May 9, 2023, has been awarded AED 100,000 (approximately INR 23.3 lakhs) in compensation by the court. The intervention of Salam Pappinissery, CEO of Yab Legal Services, proved instrumental in this favorable verdict.

Sharif Jaffar was a passenger in a Toyota Hiace public transport bus when his vehicle attempted a lane change, resulting in a collision with a vehicle driven by a Pakistani national from behind. The accident was attributed to the negligence of the bus driver Sharif Jaffar was traveling in, leading to a criminal case against the driver and a fine of AED 5,000.

Following the accident, Sharif Jaffar was admitted to Sheikh Shakhbout Hospital for treatment. He suffered significant injuries to his face, chest, and right arm. As he had not received any compensation, his relatives approached Salam Pappinissery, CEO of Yab Legal Services. Under his guidance, an advocate filed a compensation claim and submitted the necessary documents. The case was registered against the insurance company of the vehicle Sharif Jaffar was traveling in.

Sharif Jaffar's advocate argued, supported by medical certificates, that he had sustained severe injuries due to the accident and was entitled to a higher amount of compensation. The opposing party's advocate, however, stated in their memo to the court that the injuries were minor and offered to pay AED 30,000 as compensation. After a thorough review of the submitted documents, the court accepted the arguments of Sharif Jaffar's advocate and ordered the payment of AED 100,000 in compensation.
